WANTED IN SEATTLE —
Seattle Police say this suspect used a gold badge to impersonate a police officer and then robbed a 23 year old University of Washington student who was walking home from the grocery store on Roosevelt Way NE in Seattle — even stealing her bags of food. Minutes later, he used her debit card at a nearby Walgreen’s store where he was caught on video.
“He’s a big guy. 6’4″ and 290 pounds,” says Ret. Det. Myrle Carner with Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound. “He approaches her and immediately pulls out a badge in a holder and says, ‘I’m a police officer. I was working off duty at loss prevention at Trader Joe’s and I saw you shoplifting. I’d been following you’ and she says, ‘No, no I bought all this stuff.'”
His victim is only 5'3" and 105 pounds. She thought he was a real police officer and told the cops the suspect acted angry and was yelling at her to give him her pin number for her debit card which she did out of fear.
"The suspect after the robbery, after the strong arm, he goes to a Walgreen's store and he immediately makes a purchase of gift cards and then he wanders around the store like nothings happened and then about 20 minutes later, he tries to make another purchase for over 900 which was declined."
So now, Seattle Police really want to find out who this strong-armed robbery suspect is.
He's between 35 and 45 years old, tall with a heavy build and scruffy black facial hair. He had the gold badge in a wallet just like real cops carry.
