TACOMA - Hundreds of drummers performed together at the Emerald Queen Showroom last Sunday for 'Woodstick."  Celebrity drummers from Blue Oyster Cult, Yes, Tower of Power and Foreigner played along with the crowd.

The Groove Music For Youth event raises money to buy music instruments for underfunded schools and at risk youth. "The drummers would rather see drumsticks in kids hands than rocks, sticks and guns. If we can keep kids busy with music and art programs, we don't have to worry about them later in life ," said Det. Ed Troyer with Crime Stoppers of Tacoma-Pierce County that organizes the event.

Sponsors include Emerald Queen Casino, TAPCO Credit Union, Allstar Guitar in Gig Harbor and Toyota of Puyallup.  Money raised from past years purchased three full drum lines for schools and provided music lessons for kids.  This year's event raised $23,000.

If you would like to donate to help the program, there is more information at this link: http://www.groovemusicforyouth.com/
