Chrissayn Borwieck: ‘Primary suspect’ in gun store burglary where 98 firearms were stolen, $11,000 reward offered

FUGITIVE UPDATE May 24, 2019 —
The Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office says detectives have identified 17-year-old Chrissayn Jay Louis Borwieck as the primary suspect in the April 29th burglary of a gun store that resulted in the theft of 98 firearms and significant damage to the store.

He is considered ‘armed and dangerous.’

A $750,000 arrest warrant’s been issued for Borwieck on charges of Burglary 1st degree and numerous counts of theft of a firearm. Deputies say the warrant stems from his involvement in the forced entry to Boerner’s Firearms, located on State Highway 3 West in the Gorst area of South Kitsap.

Detectives say Borwieck is known to hangout in Tacoma, Pierce County and areas within south King County.

He’s 5’8” and weighs 140 lbs.

Kitsap County Sheriff’s detectives also say they located a stolen pick-up truck in Tacoma believed to have been used in the burglary. The vehicle is a gray 2012 Chevrolet Silverado that had been stolen in late March, or early April in Kent. Detectives impounded the truck and say they’ve recovered additional evidence with a search warrant.

Detectives say they’ve recovered more than a dozen of the stolen firearms during this investigation. “Finding and recovering these stolen guns remains our primary focus,” said Kitsap County Sheriff’s Lt. Jon VanGesen. “The safety of the public, our law enforcement colleagues, and the peaceful arrests of those involved are of paramount importance. We are very concerned that there are some 70 stolen firearms from this burglary that remain outstanding and are on the streets. These are guns which potentially may be used in other violent crimes,” added Lt. VanGesen.

The ATF and the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) continue to offer a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the persons responsible for the April 29 burglary. ATF is offering a reward of up to $5,000, matched by the NSSF for a possible total reward of up to $10,000.
Additionally, Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound may offer a reward of up to $1,000 to those who provide details leading to the arrest or charging of suspected criminals.

Investigators say they thank those in the community who have provided information and leads which have assisted with the investigation.

WANTED IN KITSAP COUNTY May 1, 2019 --
Kitsap County Sheriff’s detectives and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) are asking for your help to identify three suspects who broke into Boerner Firearms and stole almost 100 guns early Monday morning.

Investigators say the suspects tripped the alarm at 1:44 a.m. at the store located in the 4200 block of State Highway 3 West in the Gorst area of South Kitsap. Officers were on scene just minutes later, but the suspects were gone by the time they arrived.

“Along with my colleagues with the ATF, I am extremely concerned with the number of firearms taken during this burglary,” said Sheriff Gary Simpson. “It is obvious these criminal offenders have intentions to further their criminal activities. Any of these stolen guns may be used in a violent crime. We need to recover these weapons as quickly as possible. If you know something, say something.”

The ATF, the National Sports Shooting Foundation and Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound are offering a reward of up to $11,000 for information that leads to an arrest and conviction in the case. "We can assume that these people are not going to be selling them legally so that's scary. They are out there uncontrolled and the people that have them are those that should not have them, said Sheriff Simpson.

Detectives do not know the gender, ages or race of the suspects yet.

Here is what they do know:

Suspect #1:

• Large build

• Wearing a sweatshirt with CDXX logo on the front with writing on the sleeves, gray-colored sweatpants and black gloves

Suspect #2:

• Wearing a sweatshirt with multi-colored “North Face” or “The North West” on the front, black pants with white draw-strings and white stripes down the sides and white and dark-colored Air Jordan Retro 12 leather sneakers

Suspect #3:

• Wearing a sweatshirt with a blue bandana over his face, light-colored gloves and mid-high, light-colored basketball shoes with white soles.

No photos were released but the vehicle used in the burglary appears to be a light-colored extended-cab pick-up truck, possibly a Chevrolet Silverado or similar size.

"The guns that are stolen often times from these businesses are diverted into the criminal element, and they are often used in other violent crimes. That, therefore, affects the safe livelihood of our citizenship," said ATF Assistant Special Agent in Charge Jonathan Blais.

Another gun store in Sequim was burglarized on April 13. The ATF says about 30 guns were stolen from Fred's Guns during that robbery, but authorities have not determined if the two incidents are connected.
