PIERCE COUNTY – Bail has been set at $500,000 for the suspect accused in a shooting that hit a woman in the jaw in the Parkland area.   Jaykeen Huff pleaded not guilty in Pierce County court.  He arrested on April 14, 2016 in King County.

“We’ve charged the defendant with every count we could, two counts of Assault in the First Degree and one count of Drive-By Shooting. He’s facing the functional equivalent of a life sentence,” said Pierce County Prosecutor Mark Lindquist.

The victim was sitting in traffic on a busy street, next to a house where detectives say a fight erupted near the road, ending with Huff firing off several wild shots — one of the bullets blowing through the woman’s car window and hitting her in the face.

“We’re really lucky in this particular case we didn’t have anybody killed or more people injured. Even though the lady took a round in her head, hit her jaw, she’s going to survive it. But, this is somebody who was shooting indiscriminately at moving vehicles and in a neighborhood where it could have been a lot worse,” said Pierce County Det. Ed Troyer.
