Woman accused of robbing mom outside Seattle hospital now wanted in Snohomish County

SEATTLE  --  This story really highlights the importance of watchful neighbors and how it could help catch a woman accused of robbing a parent at knife-point outside a hospital in Seattle.

It all started when a man from Arlington trusted his gut, and in doing so, interrupted two burglars ransacking his neighbor's garage.

Ryan Maddy says he saw two women inside his neighbor's garage late Monday night, carrying handfuls of tools to a truck parked on the street.

He confronted both women who claimed they'd purchased the tools from his neighbor.

“I knew something was going on, you know if something is not right,” says Maddy.

He says he knew the two women were lying because his neighbor is away and he's watching the house for her.

He says he confiscated the tools from the two women and called 911.

The City of Arlington says Snohomish County Sheriff's deputies tracked down one suspect, but officials say Paige Nicholls, ran away before deputies arrived.

It turns out Nicholls is wanted in two different counties.

Seattle Police say they've been trying to track her down after a bizarre robbery back in September where she smashed out the passenger side window of a car parked outside Seattle Children's hospital.

Investigators say she got inside and waited.

The owner returned and confronted Nicholls, who jumped out of the car and punched the victim.

Investigators say Nicholls then pulled a knife on her and held it to the victim’s throat. When a witness came along, detectives say Nicholls threw twenty dollars at the victim and apologized before running off.

Police say Paige Nicholls stays somewhere in the Arlington - Marysville area.

She's 26 years old, 5’5 and weighs 130 pounds with blonde hair and hazel eyes.

Crime Stoppers will pay you a cash reward of up to one thousand dollars for information that leads to an arrest. You can remain anonymous. Submit the tip by using the P3 tips app on your phone or call 1-800-222-tips.

Man cleared as suspect more than 10 years after wife, daughter murdered on hiking trail

SNOHOMISH COUNTY, Wash. -- It's been more than 10 years since Mary Cooper and her daughter Susanna Stodden were shot dead while hiking the Pinnacle Lake Trail outside of Granite Falls. But it's only been days since David Stodden, Mary's husband and Susanna's father, was cleared as a suspect in their grisly deaths.

The Snohomish County Sheriff's Office said new detectives have been assigned to the cold case. Those detectives asked David Stodden to submit to a polygraph -- his third since the investigation began.

Stodden passed the latest lie detector test. The first two polygraphs came back inconclusive.

"It's kind of insulting when someone wants you take a polygraph when its your own family, and since I had already taken it twice I didn't want to take it again," Stodden said. "They pretty much said they weren't going to work on the case until I took a polygraph, so I finally decided to take it."

Hikers found Mary  Cooper and Susanna Stodden dead two miles up the Pinnacle Lake Trail off of Mountain Loop Highway, just outside Granite Falls, on July 11, 2006. Both had been shot in the head.

The seemingly random backcountry murder rattled avid hikers. At first, detectives received hundreds of tips, but 12 years later, there are still no leads or suspects. David Stodden has been frustrated with the investigation in the past, so much so that he took out a newspaper ad in 2015 asking for help from the public. Watch a 2015 interview with David Stodden here:

"I am sure somebody must know something or have heard of something by now,” Stodden told Q13 in 2015.

Detectives have said that evidence indicates the murders were random. David Stodden said no one really knew where Mary and Susanna were going that day. He said they also changed their destination while hiking.

"They had no enemies at all," he said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office at (425) 388-3845.

CHEHALIS, Wash. — Fifteen-year-old Haily Cheney went out to get the mail last Friday (Oct. 5) in Chehalis and disappeared.

Haily has a serious genetic blood disorder, called Hereditary Hemorrhagic Telangiectasia. If she doesn't take her medication she could die.

"She's actually terminally ill. HHT, there's no cure for it and it does limit your time and the fact she didn't bring her medications kind of worries me and makes me the think she was picked up randomly," said Garrett Combs, her brother.

Her sisters say she could bleed out and would never leave on her own.

"She doesn't separate from us. She's constantly with one of us and it's just weird," said Kayla Contreras.

Lewis County Sheriff's deputies say a neighbor told them he saw Haily get into a charcoal grey sports car, possibly an Acura around 6 p.m. on Oct. 5.

"I know she wouldn't just run away because she doesn't like to disappoint me either and she knows that would really hurt me a lot," said her sister, Brittnie Combs.

Haily has purple hair, is 5-foot, 4 inches tall, 120 pounds with blue eyes. She was last seen wearing a purple sweatshirt, gray Seaside sweatpants, and a baseball cap.

WANTED IN SEATTLE —
Seattle Police are asking for  your help to identify this robbery suspect.

Detectives say he stole an expensive Apple MacBook computer from the Best Buy store on Northgate Way on September 28th and  it was his use of a weapon that elevates him to one of Washington’s Most Wanted.

“You’re going to see a really clear picture of this suspect. Basically, what happens is the suspect goes into the Best Buy, shops a couple of hours, he leaves and then he comes back later in a whole new change of clothes,” said Ret. Det. Myrle Carner with Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound. “He doesn’t mess around much, but he goes right over to the table where the computers are, he reaches down and just snaps the cable from the computer, sticks it under his coat and immediately just walks past what we call the POS, or ‘Point of Sale.’ As he’s walking, he’s confronted by the loss prevention people and a couple of employees and a conversation takes place and he reaches down, pulls up his coat and according to the loss prevention people, he puts his hand on a knife in his right pocket. At that point, they just back off and let him leave the store. We’re looking at a $2,200 computer here. This is clearly a felony and when we catch him, he’s going to be charged with armed robbery.”

Seattle Police describe the suspect as:

WANTED IN SNOHOMISH COUNTY —
Fugitive, David Hablewitz, is a convicted felon who knows how to change his look.

He’s wanted in Snohomish County, where he’s charged with first and second degree identity theft along with trafficking in stolen property.

The victim in the case says she feels betrayed and angry — and hopes you will help Snohomish County Sheriff’s deputies lock him up. “He’s a predator, he’s an opportunist and what he does is premeditated.” We’re hiding the victim’s identity for her safety after Snohomish County Sheriff’s deputies say she was victimized by Hablewitz.

“I filed for a protection order shortly after I discovered the crimes.” She says they were in a relationship for about a year. When it was over, she learned he had started stealing from her within weeks of their first date. “I am not his first and I am not going to be his last.” After they broke up, she discovered three accounts opened in her name including one credit card with a $12,000 balance. “What he explained to me was that he was going to prison anyway so he might as well have made it a good one.”

"Detectives do not know where he's at. Transactions occurred in Snohomish, King and Pierce County,” said Courtney O’Keefe with the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.

Hablewitz has a long criminal history in King and Pierce county that includes burglary, vehicular assault, eluding police and unlawful imprisonment. He is most likely driving the green Caravan pictured below with Washington state license plates AQN3398 -- and may even be living in it.

"We do want him off the streets. He didn't show up for his arraignment in September. He has two warrants for Identity Theft, one for stolen property and also a DOC felony warrant,” said O’Keefe.

Fortunately, the victim was able to repair her credit with help from Victim Support Services in Everett. "I wasn't able to sleep and there are only so many hours in a day and they were able to review my credit reports with me.”

She believes Hablewitz is a public threat. "I want him caught very badly, not only for what he had done to me but I am absolutely sure there has got to be other victims out there. I feel that you have stabbed me a million times, but you have not killed me yet.

David Hablewitz is 55 years old, 6’3” and weighs 190 pounds.

He has bad teeth, tattoos on both shoulders and a small scar next to his nose on his lower right cheek.

He's known to work ‘fix-it’ type jobs, so beware of your paperwork and belongings if he's done work around your home.

He could be in Seattle's Magnolia neighborhood, Green Lake, or in the Tacoma or Spanaway areas of Pierce County.

If you know where to find him, use the P3 Tips app on your phone, or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS(8477). It's anonymous and a cash reward is yours if the information you give helps lead to his arrest.

UPDATE:

Jessica Barcelo, the dog's owner, said Monday that Keno has been found!

RENTON, Wash. -- A Renton woman is desperately searching for her dog after a thief burglarized and ransacked her home then took off with him.

Jessica Barcelo was at work in Seattle on Thursday when she decided to check in on her dog using her home surveillance camera.

What she saw next was shocking: a man walked right through her front door, trashed her home and stole any belongings he could get his hands on.

Barcelo said, he then left the door open and called the pit bull out with him.

“They're taking the stuff out of my house and Keno is standing there and they say something. I feel like they said, 'Come on mutt,'" said Barcelo. "Then Keno walks out the door with a towel between his legs, and I’m like, 'OK, is this the last time I’m ever going to see him?'"

Barcelo immediately left work and called police. She’s now doing everything she can to find him.

She put up fliers throughout the neighborhood and posted on social media.

Anyone with information on this investigation is asked to call the Renton Police Department or Crime Stoppers at http://www.P3Tips.com. There is a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest in the case.

‘It just sends the wrong message’: Scooters used for kids program stolen in Redmond

REDMOND, Wash. -- The pro scooters sport is taking off around the world, and Redmond has one of the best places for kids to learn.

Volunteers for the Indoor Scooter Park at the Pro Scooter Shop on NE 95th Street teach kids and adults alike how to do tricks and compete in a safe environment.

That's why the community is so disheartened by the recent theft of thousands of dollars worth of scooters.

"Great scooter community here in the Northwest," owner David Power told Q13.

Power loves the sport so much, he heads up a charity that built an indoor park behind his store, so kids can do "big air" tricks safely and out of the rain and cold.

Power was heartbroken when the store's alarm went off about 2 a.m. Oct. 10, alerting him that two burglars were entering his shop.

"It just sends the wrong message," he said. "We've been trying to promote a safe and fun space, and then something like this happens."

Surveillance video shows the suspects peering into the store from one door, then finding another door accidentally left open by an employee.

"You can see the thieves tuck the scooters under their arms and run out of the building," said Power.

He believes they got away with between $2,000 and $2,500 worth of scooters.

"It's super unfortunate that the door was unlocked, but to me, that's not an excuse," he said. "That just made it a lot easier for somebody who was already intent on some bad behavior."

Redmond Police said the surveillance video is helpful, and they're hoping the suspects brag about the theft or that someone recognizes them.

"If people do have footage in the area at other businesses and have some footage of other people that are there in the middle of the night, they can let us know and that might help us solve the case," said Andrea Wolf-Buck with Redmond Police.

The scooter community has stepped up to help since the burglary, even starting a GoFundMe page to help. For Power, it's a humbling gesture.

"Scooters can be replaced; there's no damage," Power said. "Nobody was hurt, but I'm pretty strong about this idea of thievery, this kind of a crime. It's horrible. I would like to do everything we can to catch these guys."

If you recognize either of them, Crime Stoppers will pay you a cash reward of up to $1,000. You can call 1-800-222-TIPS or use the P3 Tips app on your phone.

Pierce County detectives investigate possible sightings of missing mother of four

PIERCE COUNTY, Wash. — Pierce County Sheriff’s detectives are asking for the public’s help to locate a missing mother of four young kids.

29-year-old Shantel Holznagel was reported missing by her mom after her family failed to see or hear from her for several weeks.

“Our biggest fear is that she’s no longer with us,” said Shantel’s aunt, Kellee Evans.

Detectives say Shantel last texted a friend on August 9 at 7 am to come get her and nobody has seen or heard from her since.

“We’re looking for friends who can help us build a timeline because this is going to take a lot of work to figure out exactly when she disappeared,” said Pierce County Sheriff’s Det. Ed Troyer.

Detectives say there are rumors that Shantel was assaulted but the information is sketchy.  Investigators don’t know where the attack happened or who was involved. To complicate matters, Shantel has been known to live a transient lifestyle and has taken off in the past for long periods of time.

“Hopefully, we find her and everything’s ok but we are treating it as suspicious and probable foul play at this point until we learn something different,” said Det. Troyer.

Investigators say they have recently talked to two people who claimed they saw Shantel in King County but those witnesses declined to provide specifics.

Her family says she has been dealing with some personal issues and hanging out with a rough crowd.

“I just want my niece found. People know what has happened to her. Please call. Think of it as your own daughter,” said Evans.

The missing woman’s dad wants her to know that nobody is judging her lifestyle.

“Shantel, I’m here for you. If you don’t want to contact them, you can contact me. I will come and get you wherever you’re at and get you the help you need. I just want you to know I love you and we want you home where your kids want you,” he said.

Shantel is 5’7” tall, 150 lbs., with brown hair and brown eyes. She has several tattoos including the words “Angel face” on her back and an image of a diamond on her left ankle.

If you have any information on her whereabouts, you can remain anonymous.

Submit a tip to Crime Stoppers of Tacoma\Pierce County by calling 1-800-222-TIPS or use the P3 Tips App you can download for free to your phone.

This is one of the cases being featured on Washington’s Most Wanted airing Friday at 11:30 pm on Q13 FOX and Saturday at 10 pm on JOEtv.

Renton Police seek ID of two robbery suspects who knocked down young boy scout during escape

RENTON, Wash. -- Renton Police are asking for the public's help to identify two suspects who violently knocked down a young boy scout selling popcorn for his troop as they fled after stealing a counter top display case with $40,000 worth of jewelry inside.

Fortunately, the child is OK.

"Just to run over a little boy and then keep going, they had no regard for anybody. Our biggest fear right now is that they could continue to escalate, and next time they may run into a jewelry store and bring a firearm with them, and somebody could get shot and hurt," said Sgt. Christine Matthews with Renton PD.

On September 9th, at approximately 5:05 pm, one suspect immediately approached the case at Fred Meyer in Renton and used a tool to cut the security chain that secures the case to the counter top. The second suspect then grabbed the display case, and both suspects ran out of the store.

Missing Attachment Missing Attachment Missing Attachment

The case contained about $40,000 worth of yellow gold, white gold, and sterling silver chain necklaces..

"We don't know if they were in there earlier that day, or a couple of days earlier, but it's positive that they were in there at least beforehand because they knew exactly how to get it off of there, and they knew they needed to bring bolt cutters," Matthew said. "We're asking the public when you look at the video, it's not real clear, their faces, but you can clearly see their body stature, how they move, what they're wearing, so we're hopeful that somebody out there will recognize them through their body movements, rather than just the facial recognition,."

The first suspect is described as a white man in his 30s, 5-foot, 8 inches to 5-foot, 11 inches tall with a medium build. He was wearing a light tan fedora hat, tan/white long sleeve jacket with a black shirt underneath, and tan/white pants.

Suspect No. 2 is described as a black man in his 30s, 5-foot 10 to 6-foot tall, with a slender build. He was wearing a black baseball cap, a gray or tan T-Shirt, blue jean shorts, and gray shoes with a white sole.

Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 if you can identify either suspect. Submit an anonymous tip at www.P3Tips.com or download the P3 Tips App to your phone for free. You can also call 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

King County Sheriff’s detectives and the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force say Camron Gaunt robbed the Wells Fargo on October 12th.

Mountlake Terrace Police say he also robbed a barista at Roosters Espresso on September 13th. “He looked at me and said today is gonna be a bad day for you and then held the gun up to me and asked me to give him all the money in the stand so I just gave it to him right away he said thanks and left,” said the barista.  She has since quit her job.

He is 6’02”, 195 pounds with hazel eyes and brown hair.  He has been known to use the aliases ‘Justin Hauge’ and ‘Cameron Len Gaunt’.

CAPTURED — DOC officers say Jaszamare Blake was arrested on Thursday, October 18 in Auburn.  He was booked into the Regional Justice Center where he is being held without bail.  Officers say he was driving a stolen car.

WANTED BY DOC IN SNOHOMISH COUNTY —
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month — putting a spotlight on the fight against convicted woman abuser’s like Jaszamare Blake — a man convicted of beating his girlfriend while babysitting his sister’s kids.

The violence he made the children witness in a motel room is horrible: Pushing the victim to floor several times, choking her nearly unconscious. When she was able to get away long enough to lock herself in the bathroom, Blake threatened her from the other side of the door while pouring coffee through the door jamb. She came out to call 911 — and the horror happened again — still with the two young children watching it all. The victim escaped into the bathroom again. This time Blake took off with the kids — and the victims ID and credit cards.

He was convicted of assault in 2015 for it and is now breaking probation on it Snohomish County. He’s also wanted in King County for an auto theft charge that’s also a domestic violence crime, since the vehicle belonged to an ex-girlfriend — a perfect example of how Blake’s Department of Corrections Officer says he’s known to ‘date women and take advantage of them.’

His rap sheet shows several assaults, protection order violations, drugs, hit and run, lying to police and possession of a dangerous weapon.

He’s 33 years old, 6’1”, weighs 167 pounds and is known to hangout in the Kent and Auburn areas of King County.

He’s got a ton of tattoos all over his body, including the ones you see below on his neck, chest and behind his ear.

If you know where he’s hiding, use the P3 Tips App on your smart phone or call the hot line at 1-800-222-TIPS(8477). It’s anonymous and you’ll get a cash reward of up to $1,000 if your tip helps lead to his arrest.

Help paralyzed father who had specialized bike stolen

GRAHAM, Wash. -- A Graham family is asking for the public’s help to track down the thieves who stole a paralyzed father’s only piece of freedom -- his hand-bike.

Nathan Mann said the crooks broke into his fenced-in yard on 50th Avenue East Friday afternoon. He went out to take his two kids for a bike ride around 1 p.m., and his hand-bike was gone when he returned.

Mann said he purchased the bike a year ago.

It was a means to gaining some independence after a mountain bike accident in 2016 left him paralyzed from the waist down.

“They had to have realized that it's not for an everyday person you know, and it's disgusting that somebody you know… I'm in a wheelchair,” said Mann. “I work hard for everything that I have, and I work even harder to do the things that other people do.”

He’d taken out a loan and liens on his cars to afford the $14,000 bike.

It was equipped with specialized modifications just for him.

It’s a black and green “Sport on Explorer” 3-hand cycle bike.

"This bike is so unique, even if it's painted a different color they'll be able to look at it and tell, since it was custom-made, that it didn't belong to the person," said Pierce County Sheriff's Det. Ed Troyer.

CLICK HERE to help Mann replace his stolen bike.

If you have any information that can help find Natha's stolen bike, use the P3 Tips App on your smart phone to submit the information to Crime Stoppers, or call the hot line at 1-800-222-TIPS(8477).

WANTED IN KING COUNTY —
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month — a good time to put the spotlight on the fight against offenders like Vincent Landes.

He has a huge history of domestic violence. He’s been busted six times for violating a no contact order and now he’s facing his seventh conviction for it.

“Vincent is wanted. He’s having problems showing up to court. He’s got a warrant for his arrest for violating a no contact order. He went to the house where he wasn’t supposed to be at, where the female was staying and wasn’t supposed to have contact with and he got into an argument with her for about 10 minutes, about a truck that he wanted to take back from the female victim. She wouldn’t let him have it back and he continued to argue out front. The cops were called and before the police could get there, Mr. Landes jumped in another truck and took off out of the area. Mr. Landes, since 1986, has had 42 bookings into the King County Jail, so he is a common resident in the King County Jail and he, most likely, knows he’s being looked for again and doesn’t want to go back, so we need the public’s help to try to find him,” said King County Sheriff’s Sgt. Ryan Abbott.

Detectives say he lives homeless, possibly in Seattle’s South Park or White Center area.

He’s admitted to being hooked on heroin for a decade and could be trying to steal to help feed his addiction.

He’s 51 years old, 5’7” and weighs 140 pounds.

If you spot him on the street, or know where he’s hiding, use the P3 Tips App on your smart phone to submit the information to Crime Stoppers, or call the hot line at 1-800-222-TIPS(8477). It’s anonymous and you’ll get a cash reward of up to $1,000 if your tip helps lead to his arrest.
