Help ID crowbar-wielding pharmacy robber caught on surveillance video

WANTED IN SEATTLE —
The hunt is on for a serial armed robbery suspect targeting pharmacies in Seattle.

You can see the clear images of his face and getaway ride, a newer-model black Honda Accord, either 2019 or 2020, with some pretty unique rims.

Police say he was armed with a flat pry bar.

Detectives say he hit a pharmacy on Main Street, just east of the International District, one on MLK Way South, just south of Beacon Hill on August 21st and he cased a 3rd location on Rainier Ave. S. That’s where surveillance video shows his face and clothes the best. He asked the pharmacist for two types of medication, so the pharmacist comes around the counter to help him and explains that they don’t carry what he’s looking for, so he eventually leaves.

The suspect was much more direct at the next pharmacy, where surveillance video shows him walk right in with customers all around, reach into his bag and pull out the pry bar. You see the clerks get startled and try to confront him before both of them quickly back out and then everybody but the pharmacist leaves the store for their safety. The suspect ends up grabbing bags of prescriptions belonging to other customers and even takes money out of the till before taking off.

Detectives say he didn't get the drugs he was looking for, so they think he will hit again and are hoping somebody recognizes him.

“Anytime you intimidate somebody with a weapon, even if you shove somebody around or whatever, it's not a shoplift, it's a robbery and in this case he was armed with a crowbar, a lethal weapon. You watch the video when he comes into the store, he appears very calm, very collected about the way he goes about it, so it tells me this is not his first time, but once he pulls that crowbar he becomes very demanding. You're gonna get a good look at this guy and we want to stop him before he hits another place,” said Ret. Det. Myrle Carner with Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound.

Detectives think he's in his mid-20’s, about 5’8”, 160 pounds, wearing a head wrap and Nike Air Jordan shoes – and he wasn’t alone: Detectives think a white suspect was driving the new Honda Accord.

If you know his name, Crime Stoppers will pay you a cash reward of up to $1,000. Use the P3 Tips App on your cell phone where you  can also send any photos you have directly to detectives and it is anonymous. You can also call the hot line at 1-800-222-TIPS(8477).

‘They almost ruined my entire life:’ Help ID fraud suspect who used credit cards stolen from woman planning wedding

WANTED IN LACEY —
Take a good look at a woman wanted by Lacey Police: From her smile, she looked pretty happy as she shops at a Fred Meyer store in Kent, then made some purchases at a Safeway store in Lacey, then sported some cool shades as she withdrew some money from America’s Credit Union, with what appears to be a friend in the striped-shirt sitting in the passenger seat as they cruised around in a LimePod car — definitely looks like she knows how to live her best life. The problem is — the life she’s leading isn’t her own — she stole it from a woman, a victim who’s fighting back and wants your help to stop this identity thief.

Diane Story has been working two jobs to save up enough money for her wedding, so when a woman started withdrawing cash from her account, she felt violated and frustrated. “I had to call my banks and find out this person was stealing all of my money and that she just took over my whole life, basically,” said Story.

It all started when Diane left her wallet in her car while she was working late on July 17th. “I, unfortunately, didn`t discover my wallet was missing until the next morning, about 8am in the morning, when one of my credit card companies called me and told me I was spending money that I didn`t have.”

By that time, Lacey Police Det. Jimmy Williams says the suspect had already used Diane's stolen cards to make 11 different purchases. “I actually gathered surveillance video from our local Safeway here, over in the Hawks Prairie area. It shows the suspect walking out of the store after she made a purchase. I also got other video. One was at a Fred Meyer in Kent. When we compared the video to the still pictures I`d gotten from Kent, I could tell the exact same outfit was worn. The only difference we could see is it looks like the person`s a little bit heavier, up in Kent, but I believe it only looks that way, because of the way the snapshots, or the pictures were taken. I believe they were shrunk before they were sent to us, so it looks like a different person, but actually, when you look at the clothing, the shoes, the hairstyle, it's the same person,” said Det. Williams.

And the thief was just getting started: A week after the car prowl,  police say the suspect and another woman rented a LimePod vehicle from the Seattle area and drove it to Steilacoom, where she withdrew $2,600 in cash from Diane's account at two different bank branches -- using the account number and personal information she found in the stolen wallet. “It was really surprising, but that shows you sometimes leaving all your personal information in your purse, all together at one time, could be a mistake,” said Det. Williams.

At first, Diane's bank didn't believe there was fraud. They thought she took out the money. They got it sorted out eventually, but the damage was done. "We had to change our photographer plans, because we didn`t have any money for it, so it was really infuriating and I was really angry about it,” said Story.

She now carries her wallet everywhere she goes. She's learned a very painful lesson, but police say if it hadn't been her, it would have been another victim because this crook is a pro. "They know exactly what they're doing and that's why they're bouncing from city to city. They are going in, they're spending less than $500 at each place they go and then they don't stop. They don't stop until the credit card doesn't work anymore, so they know what they're doing. They're buying gift cards and small items, so later on they can use the money and spend the gift cards at another time,” said Det. Williams.

He’s following up with LimePod, because it's unusual for  a suspect to rent a car to commit a crime -- usually, they steal them. He says, right now, the photos of the suspect are the best clues he has to get her identified.

“Really want to catch this person. These are the types of things we don't like here in Lacey. We have a hard-working person who has two jobs, not one, she has two jobs, works hard for her money and now somebody took her money from her. We don't like that here in Lacey. We want to make her be accountable for the things she's done,” said Det. Williams.

Diane says she won't feel safe until the suspect is stopped, because she still has her wallet, ID's and all of her information. “I just want this person to know that they almost ruined my entire life."

If you know who this woman is, or have any other info that can help Lacey Police track her down, Crime Stoppers of the South Sound will pay you a cash reward of up to $1,000. Submit an anonymous tip through the P3 Tips App on your cell phone, or call the hotline at 1-800-222-TIPS(8477).

SEATTLE -- In mid-August, thieves attacked a 68-year-old man in the Greenwood area and stole his beloved dog named Quavo.

Weeks later, Quavo has been reunited with his rightful owner thanks to a tip from a Q13 viewer.

Albert Boogaard and his step-daughter Andrea Naylor were walking down the street in Seattle's Greenwood neighborhood when they say a man and two women in a white car stole his bulldog.

Albert has Parkinson’s and couldn’t fight back. He was devastated. Quavo belonged to Albert's wife who passed away recently.

“The guy got out of the car, come over grabbed me in a bear hug from behind, I turned around and punched him a couple times right behind the ear,” he said. “I'm not strong like I used to be so they shoved me to the ground and grabbed my dog and took him.”

Detectives canvassed the area and Albert and Andrea  turned to the public for help and as luck would have it, Quavo was found Monday loose in the Crown Hill area.

He was taken to the Seattle Animal Shelter and that's when a Q13 viewer recognized him as the stolen dog, alerted news anchor and WMW host David Rose, who notified a very happy Andrea. The shelter says they see pets and owners reunited often, but this was special.

Albert and Andrea say they are so very grateful.

I fell and then I chased him out, screaming as loud as I could to see if anyone would come and help."

Seattle police need help identifying carjackers who beat 64-year-old delivery driver

SEATTLE -- A vicious attack on an innocent, hard-working victim in Seattle was caught on surveillance video.

The video shows an unidentified suspect trying to steal a 64-year-old newspaper delivery driver's car. The suspect gets out from behind the wheel and punches the victim trying to stop him - hitting him so hard that he's knocked into the middle of the street.

This all started when that robbery suspect and two others attempted to take the victim's car while he was checking on a newspaper stand in downtown Seattle.

When the victim returns to his car and gets in his vehicle, the suspect attacks and pulls him out and punches him five times. The suspect along with another guy and woman get into the victim's car, but they couldn't find the keys.

The victim gets back to his feet and tries to get into his car, and that's when he gets hit again and knocked into the road.

Seattle police say they need your help to identify all three suspects.

"On August 31st about 2:25 in the morning is in the area of 1500 block of 3rd Avenue. He's driving his vehicle. You see him stop, pull over to the curb. You'll see him exit the vehicle and go across the street westbound to check on newspapers. A short period of time, he's starting to come back and standing by the driver door is the taller of three suspects involved in the case. There's a conversation that takes place, we can't understand what it is, but the victim actually gets in the vehicle. The tallest suspect standing there reaches in the car, he pulls him out and punches him in the face five times, he knocks him to the ground. Then, the suspect gets in the vehicle. The other two suspects, a female and a male, get in the vehicle. The victim opens up the door. There's another confrontation, then the tallest suspect who was behind the wheel steps out, hits him square in the face, knocks him out in the middle of 3rd avenue, gets back in and tries to drive away. They can't find the keys, they can't move it, so they all get out, walk around the car while the victim's out there and then they walk southbound on 3rd Avenue," Ret. Det. Myrle Carner with Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound said.

Prior to the attempted carjacking, another camera shows the three suspects with some other people just hanging around in front of the McDonalds.

"To the best of our knowledge, all three of these suspects just hang in that area all the time,” Carner explained. “The news on the street is they always hang out down there so somebody knows who these people are."

  • Suspect #1 in the tracksuit is described as black and about 6 feet tall.
  • Suspect #2 is a light-skinned black male, around 5'10 with a stripe on side of his pants.
  • Suspect #3 is a woman in a black hooded jacket and white shoes.

If you can identify any of them, Crime Stoppers will pay you a cash reward of up to $1,000. Call the hotline at 1-800-222-tips or use the P3 Tips App on your cell phone to submit the information.

‘I felt like we were gonna die’— Couple continues recovery as police search for Marysville hit-and-run suspect

MARYSVILLE, Wash. -- The man suspected of causing a horrific car crash in Marysville is still on the run, and police think he may be wearing wigs to avoid arrest.

Officers say 27-year-old Zachary Kier has claimed he is not going back to prison.

He's been spotted in Issaquah, Kirkland and Lake Stevens since Aug. 3, when officers say he hit a couple in their 70s head-on as they drove home.

Because of their injuries, neither victim can walk yet. They say they feel if Kier is not caught, more innocent victims like them will be hurt.

Zachary Kier (Courtesy photos)

Vicki Stricfaden and Larry Austin were driving home from a night out at Tulalip Casino when police say Kier rammed them head-on, crushing the front of their Chrysler and setting off the airbags.

"I felt like we were gonna die then," Stricfaden said. "I kept saying 'I can't breathe,' and he was saying the same thing. So it was very traumatic, it was awful."

Vicki suffered the worst injuries in the crash. Her ankle was shattered, and she broke her shoulder and elbow.

Marysville Police Officer Joe Belleme says video created by their Faro 3D scanner that uses lasers and a camera shows Kier crossed into the oncoming lane going between 50 and 60 mph.

"It pushed that victim vehicle back about 15-20 feet, and it almost kicked it 90 degrees sideways," Belleme said.

He believes Kier ran because he's on probation for possession of a controlled substance. Officers found baggies of heroin and meth in his Jeep.

His criminal history includes felony convictions for theft, identity theft, forgery, possession of a stolen vehicle and car theft.

"He's messed up our life and he's messed up other people's life too," Vicki said.

That includes Dana Krum, a passenger who was in Kier's back seat. Krum was on life support for weeks; he is still in the hospital, but his family says he's off a ventilator now and is slowly recovering.

Both Vicki and Larry would like to see Kier caught, but it won't change their situation. It will be months before either can walk again, and Vicki is still in rehab.

"I don't like being in rehab," she said. "I don't sleep well. I miss home, I miss Larry. I mean this accident completely changed our life."

Kier has family connections in Cle Elum as well as convictions in Kittitas County and King County.

Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound is offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to his arrest. It is anonymous. If you know where Marysville Police can find him, call 1-800-222-TIPS or submit the information P3Tips.com or through the P3 Tips app on your phone.

WANTED IN PIERCE COUNTY —
Someone willing to prey on the elderly, taking advantage of their good heart and vulnerability — is just despicable — and that’s Suzanne Cozad, a.k.a. ‘Rosemary Jean Hake.’

She is a prolific criminal with dozens of convictions.

She’s wanted in Pierce County after skipping court on two charges of identity theft and three counts of forgery.

The victim in the case she’s wanted for was Curly Roemer, who detectives and his daughter say Cozad befriended and took advantage of before he died. “She started hanging around him a lot and started asking for money, so he would give her $100 here and $100 there and it just progressed from there, where she started coming over in the middle of the night, knocking on his window, yelling she wanted money. She went on to come in one day and say that she hadn’t eaten in days and he let her in, while he was making her a sandwich she stole two checks out of his checkbook,” said Roemer’s daughter, Marilyn Davidson. “It’s horrible. Not getting justice for him. Watching her in court manipulate them. Lie in court. It’s just a game to her. She has no remorse. I watched her in court. She’s laughing, she’s joking. One time, when it got delayed again, she turned around and laughed at me.”

Detectives say Cozad cashed the two checks for $1,000 each. That was in 2017. She's also accused of stealing two more checks from Roemer that were not noticed until after his death last year -- and cashing them at Walmart.

"This lady has created lots of havoc over the years,” said Pierce County Sheriff’s Det. Ed Troyer. “In this particular case, the victim was an elderly man and anybody who's going to go after seniors, or the less vulnerable is somebody who's going to go after anybody. She has 19 felony convictions for drugs, but the bigger thing is she's got convictions for burglary, theft, stolen property, identity theft and this is somebody who's not going to quit until they're caught. Even once they're caught, she still continues to do it, so we want to get her off the streets, so she can't victimize anybody else."

She's 64 years old, 5’6” and weighs 145 pounds.

If you know where she's hiding, so Pierce County detectives can get her caught and back in court, so Roemer’s family can get justice, contact Crime Stoppers with the information. Use the P3 Tips App on a smart phone that you can download for free, or call the hotline at 1-800-222-TIPS(8477). It's anonymous -- you never have to give your name -- and you'll get a cash reward of up to $1,000 if your tip helps lead to her arrest.

Shawn Rietdorf: Accused in burglary of widow’s home in Thurston County and theft in Lewis County

CHEHALIS, Wash. -- Shawn Cary Rietdorf has multiple warrants for his arrest in both Thurston and Lewis County.   He is charged in Thurston County with Residential Burglary, Theft in the 2nd Degree and Trafficking in Stolen Property in the First Degree.  The 50-year-old is wanted after he failed to show up for court.

The charges stem from a case in Tumwater where police say Rietdorf admitted to his role in the burglary of a widow's home.  He told detectives he had done remodeling work for the widow who is the mother of a friend and knew she had jewelry in the house.  According to court documents, Rietdorf admitted to driving the getaway vehicle, dropping off a prison buddy named 'Donny' at the home, waiting for him and then and picking him up after he stole the victim's wedding ring and the ring that belonged to her late husband.  Rietdorf told detectives they also stole necklaces, bracelets, earrings and a gun.  Rietdorf says they split the jewelry 50/50 and then he pawned it over two days to purchase heroin.  He said the 'Donny' kept the gun.

Rietdorf is also wanted in Lewis County for Theft in the 2nd Degree and two counts of Identity Theft in the 2nd Degree.  Centralia Police say he stole an I-Pad from a room at a motel where he'd worked as the maintenance man for only a few days. Deputies think he took the job just so he could get a key card to the rooms.

Lewis County Sheriff's detectives are also looking for Rietdorf after he is accused of using stolen credit card information to order food from burger and pizza places. "He would phone in and basically do carry-out orders. Originally, deputies were notified that the victim had some fraudulent charges to his credit card ---and then what became even more suspicious is in April of this year, there were additional transactions on the new card that was issued. So, the victims replaced their credit card, they had these new transactions and they start figuring out the suspect is believed to be the victim's sister's significant other and the original credit card was stolen and the second credit card, it looks like the information must have been copied off. He basically defrauds them once and then goes after them again, which ultimately led to his demise, as far as the criminal charges catching up with him," said Lewis County Special Services Chief Dusty Breen.

Rietdorf 6'0", 175 lbs and was last living in Napavine in Lewis County. However, he has been seen in Shelton in Mason County. That's where he told Tumwater police that he gets his drugs.

Call 911 if you spot him. If you can tell deputies where to find him, submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers of the South Sound at 1-800-222-TIPS or use the P3 Tips App that you can download to your cell phone for free.

Police say one of the suspects involved was arrested and told detectives that there are about 30 people in the group committing the locker thefts. He said the group travels all over to break into gym lockers — even to Oregon and California. Detectives say the suspect admitted to committing roughly 30 thefts in the past six months. Within days of his release, police say the suspect was again contacted and arrested — in a gym — for the same crime.

Detectives say surveillance video you can see below shows two of the suspects, Taylor Freeman and Sukjae ‘Eric’ Woo, enter a gym and walk past employees without signing-in. Police say they pretend to log-in, or use a false name.  In many cases, the suspects enter wearing one outfit and leave wearing something slightly different. While in the locker room, detectives say the suspects break into lockers to steal wallets, money and even keys. Police say there have been several cases where the victim had their wallet stolen from their vehicle — and in some cases — the vehicle was also stolen. After the gym, detectives say the suspects go to local businesses and purchase gift cards.

Everett Police says it's investigating over 20 reported cases with financial fraud in the thousands of dollars and working with other law enforcement agencies in King and Snohomish Counties.

SUSPECT IDENTIFIED Sept. 2019 -- King County Prosecutors have charged Jacob Sanner with ID theft in the Second Degree after Newcastle Police say he used stolen credit cards to purchase around $1700 worth of gift cards at self-checkout stands at local stores before the victim discovered his wallet was missing.

Everett Police say he is also a member of the crime ring targeting gym lockers and has been arrested. He is free on bond and is scheduled to be arraigned in King County on September 23rd.

While several viewer tips did eventually come into Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound to ID him, detectives say a Secret Service agent had already contacted them after recognizing him.

WANTED March 7, 2019 --

Newcastle Police are asking for your help to identify a credit card fraud suspect. Detectives say a victim lost his wallet in a parking lot of a gym or had it stolen on Valentine's Day. This suspect used the stolen cards inside to purchase around $1700 worth of gift cards at self-checkout stands at local stores before the victim discovered his wallet was missing.

"The guy had the right chance to do the right thing and to turn it in if he did find out but he chose to do the wrong thing and now we'd like to know who he is so we can help him make better decisions in the future."  Chief Jason Houck wishes more stores would require ID when selling gift cards.  "I would rather show my ID to buy a gift card and have that little inconvenience than allow somebody who has stolen my cards or found my lost wallet to then go charge $1700 worth of gift cards because nobody checked the ID.

If you know the suspect's name or have any information on a location, vehicle, etc, Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound will pay you a cash reward of up to $1,000 if it leads to his arrest. Submit an anonymous tip at www.P3Tips.com or use the P3 Tips App on your cell phone.

CAPTURE UPDATE September 19, 2019 —
Lacey Police say thanks to a Washington’s Most Wanted viewer tip to Crime Stoppers of the South Sound, both suspects in the burglary of a soldier’s garage  on September 1st — have been arrested and charged.

Malik Murray and Austin Jones are both charged with Burglary in the 2nd Degree and Theft in the 1st Degree.

Jones was arrested first by Lacey Police on September 12th. Olympia Police took Murray into custody a couple days later.

“We were getting to the point where we thought we were at a dead end road, because the case was a couple weeks old,” said Lacey Police Det. Jimmy Williams. “Somebody let us know exactly what vehicle they were using, the names of the people and where they hangout, so we grabbed that tip, we ran to downtown Olympia. We actually ran the names, found out both individuals were on warrant status, they’ve been getting in trouble for the exact same things. We apprehended one person and put him in custody. That person confessed to the whole thing, said they were the one and gave up their friend. Olympia Police took over and they actually apprehended the person for us, a couple of days later, when they ran into him.”

Det. Williams say both men live homeless and Jones was wearing the same shirt seen on the soldier’s home surveillance video.

Det. Williams says Jones confessed to the burglary and verified Murray was the suspect with him.

Murray is also charged in two separate cases, including a forgery case in July and for using a bank card stolen from a vehicle on September 13th.

Murray and Jones are WMW Captures #1119 and #1120.
