IN COURT: Derrick Crawford

CAPTURE UPDATE February 28, 2018 —
Derrick Crawford pleaded guilty to 2nd degree murder on Friday, for shooting and killing his Edmonds roommate, Joshua Werner.

He faces 14 to 22 years in prison.

He is set to be sentenced on March 19.

CAPTURED: Derrick Crawford

FUGITIVE CAPTURED January 16, 2018 —
Edmonds Police say a Washington’s Most Wanted viewer tip to Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound led Edmonds Police Detectives and Street Crimes Units, along with The Snohomish County Regional Task Force to a home near 60th and Broadway, where they found murder suspect, Derrick ‘Wiz’ Crawford, hiding in a closet on Tuesday night.

“We were able to zero-in on a couple locations, one of which, thanks to that viewer tip, it turned out to be an accurate area for us and we we’re able to, essentially, corral him in a closet,” said Edmonds Police Sgt. Shane Hawley. “He thought a closet would be his best location to hide out. That didn’t work out so well for him. We were able to get him out of the closet and book him into the jail without incident.”

Crawford is being held in the Snohomish County Jail on $500,000 bail.

He is WMW Capture #947.

Crawford is accused of shooting and killing his roommate, Josh Werner, while he slept.

Josh’s family is finding it hard to come up with funeral costs. If you’d like to help, you can donate at Josh’s GoFundMe page.

FUGITIVE WANTED IN EDMONDS January 12, 2018 —
Edmonds police and the Snohomish County Violent Offender Task Force are the hunt for “Wiz” — a murder suspect who’s believed to have shaved his head to try and disguise himself, just minutes after shooting and killing his roommate while he slept.

“Wiz” is Derrick Crawford’s nickname. He’s a convicted felon. Detectives think he could be hiding in the Tukwila or Kent area and possibly trying to run to California.

Police say “Wiz” shot his roommate, Josh Werner, in the face — point-blank — last weekend after jolting him awake and demanding money and drugs he accused the victim of taking from him. It happened near 178th Pl. SW and 76th Ave. W., just east of Southwest County Park.

Murder victim, Josh Werner

Edmonds Police say the roommates were not alone when Crawford pulled the trigger. “Our patrol arrived and they received very little cooperation. There were about three or four people in the house and we suspect other people had left before we got there,” said Edmonds Police Sgt. Shane Hawley. “It was kind of like putting a puzzle together without all the pieces, but we were able to figure out that Mr. Crawford was, in fact, the suspect and that he had shot someone, essentially in the head.” Crawford had bolted before cops showed up.

Edmonds Police say most of his felony convictions are for drugs and he is absolutely considered 'armed and dangerous.' "If he's willing to shoot someone in the head over some minor property dispute, we need to get him off the street and we're hoping if we can flood the with his picture that he just becomes toxic to everybody he's around and nobody will want to be around him and that the second he sets foot out on the street, someone will just give us a call,” said Sgt. Hawley.

Derrick Crawford is 22 years old, 6’5” and weighs 170 pounds. If you know where he's hiding, call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS(8477), or use the P3 Tips App to submit your information.

FIFE -- March 2nd, 2018

Thurston County home burglary suspect Rita Ann Salois was arrested this morning by a Puyallup Tribal Polce Officer after she was spotted by some sharp eyed security officers at a bingo parlor in Fife who recognized her from Washington's Most Wanted.

Salois was transferred to Thurston County Sheriff's deputies and booked into jail where she is being held without bail.

Rita Ann Salois is WMW Capture #968.

OLYMPIA, Wash. -- Thurston County Sheriff’s detectives are asking for the public’s help to find a suspect accused of tormenting and stalking a woman by breaking into her home repeatedly.

Deputies say 52-year-old Rita Salois has been traveling back and forth between Tacoma and Olympia to burglarize Georgia Butterfield’s house.

"She actually stole checks from my handicapped brother's account and wrote close to $14,000 in checks,” said Butterfield.

The two used to be friends and even roommates for a  short time until Georgia says she stopped lending Salois money.  Now, her former friend is accused of breaking into her home 6 times to steal money and documents used for ID theft.

“The victim, in this case, is in fear. Nobody should have to live like she has for the last couple of years,” said Det. George Oplinger.

Butterfield says she has changed the locks and installed surveillance cameras but that didn’t stop Salois.

“She couldn’t get into the safes so she stole the whole safes,” said Butterfield.

In addition to six home burglary cases, Salois is also wanted for Identity Theft.

“I started getting bills and statements for cards that I didn’t open,” said Butterfield.

Salois is even accused of victimizing her own mother by depositing stolen checks into her account and then withdrawing the funds.

“When the checks came back as no good because they're stolen, the bank is now going to the mother who owes the bank $5,000,” said Oplinger.

Deputies are hoping someone in the Tacoma or Olympia area can tell them where Salois is staying or provide a tip that will lead to her arrest.

"There's information that we have that maybe she's using methamphetamines, she's just out of control and she’s not making rational decisions."

If you know where deputies can find Rita Ann Salois, Call Crime Stoppers of the South Sound at 1-800-222-TIPS or use the P3 Tips on your phone. It is anonymous. There is a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to her arrest.

“I would like to see her go to prison, not just jail but prison,” said Butterfield.

EVERETT — Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound and the family of a missing Everett man are offering a $5,000 reward to help find him.

Matt Verdugo’s been missing since last summer. His family says he went to a rock concert at the Gorge Amphitheater on Saturday, June 17th. He made it back home to Everett the next day — then vanished. “He came home. He made some Facebook posts really early in the morning of Sunday, June 18th, and then no one has seen or heard from him since,” said Matt’s sister, Julie Ubert. “My kids ask all the time, ‘Where is he?’ So, it’s been really heartbreaking.”

Matt’s family says he’d had some drug problems in the past, but had been sober and doing well leading up to his disappearance. They say Matt had never missed a family event, like Christmas or his nephew’s birthdays. They just want him home and hope someone can help make that happen. “If anybody knows anything, has seen him, knows where he may be, has heard from him in anyway, if they could just contact Crime Stoppers. We really want to find him and bring him home. His birthday’s coming up and we’d really love to have him home for that,” said Matt’s sister.

WANTED IN AUBURN and FEDERAL WAY —
Auburn Police are asking for the public’s help to ID this armed robber wearing a Seahawks hat and a Mariners sweatshirt who held up two Subway stores on Sunday.

The first robbery was just after 10am in Federal Way. He walked into the store at 32935 1st Avenue South and asked the employee for a cookie. Police say he told her, “I’m gonna need you to give me all of the money.” She could see a large bulge when he put his hands in his pockets and believed he was armed with a gun.  He left out the front door after stealing the cash.

Auburn Police say later that afternoon at around 4:15pm, the same suspect entered the Subway at 4798 Auburn Way N and fired a shot into the ground after the employee declined three times to give him the money. The bullet hit a soda vending machine guard and then ricocheted. The employee wasn’t hit.  The suspect then went to the till and stole the cash before running east toward D St NE.

“We feel he's going to do it again,” said Ret. Det. Myrle Carner with Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound. “He's very calm, it's obviously not the first time, so we got a guy that's out there, he's dangerous and he is armed."

Detectives described the suspect as White or Hispanic, in his mid to late 20's, approximately 5'10" with a medium build.

If you recognize anything about him, or know his name, or where he lives -- please submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound by using the P3 Tips App on your smart phone or by calling 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). You can also submit the information at http://www.P3Tips.com.

FUGITIVE CAPTURED March 2, 2018 --
Double murder suspect, Merle Buchanan, was arrested and booked into the King County Jail on Friday.

He's being held without bail.

FUGITIVE WANTED IN KING COUNTY February 2, 2018 --
Wearing T-shirts in memory of Jose Garcia, his daughter and ex-wife have a lot of unanswered questions after the father of four and grandfather to two with one on the way was murdered along with Paul Tapia outside Club Taradise in White Center on January 6th.

Angela Salazar-Garcia and Adelita Ortiz-Garcia speak with WMW host David Rose

"I think I am still just in a state of shock of it all," said daughter Angela Salazar-Garcia. King County Sheriff's detectives have identified the suspect as 26-year-old Merle Charles Buchanan aka 'Chucky'.

"We want this guy off the street. He's already killed two people. We don't know at this time what the exact motive was but I can tell you that we're worried that me might do the same to others," said Sgt. Cindi West.

Garcia and Tapia were at the café for a party for a coworker.

"It's really weird that that's the place that he died because that's not my dad's scene." said Salazar-Garcia.

When officers responded to a call of multiple gunshots, they found Garcia dead at the scene.

"What possessed the guy to just pull out a gun and shoot the two people who were in front of him and run like he had no care in the world," said Salazar-Garcia.

Paul Tapia or 'Pablo' as his mom calls him died later at Harborview Medical Center.

Paul Tapia

"To meet him was to like him. He was kind and compassionate, loved his Broncos and barbecuing.  He once gave a homeless person his socks. That's just who he was. He would always stop to talk to people" said Vickie Glatt, Tapia's mother.

Jose Garcia

None of it feels real for the two families now trying to cope with the loss that has left huge holes in their lives. Garcia loved to grill and go camping at the beach.

"Ocean Shores was his favorite because I had taken him there for the first time," said Garcia's ex-wife, Adelita Ortiz-Garcia.

The two divorced a year and a half ago but remained close friends.

"He treated me like a queen and that's rare these days," said Ortiz-Garcia.

She drives a Metro bus and says she and other drivers have seen 'Chucky' on their routes.

"He's a very agitated person and always up and moving around. He's somebody that people will recognize and remember," said Ortiz-Garcia.

Detectives say 'Chucky' frequents Renton, Seattle and the Burien area. They believe friends or even family may be helping him hide.

"The fact that I don't have closure. The fact that my three other siblings don't have closure. You're making it ok for my daughter not to know the real story on how her grandpa passed," sais Salazar-Garcia.

"Chucky" also has a warrant for his arrest after detectives say he hit his ex-girlfriend in the face the night before the shootings.

"This guy needs to be put behind bars for the rest of his life," said Salazar-Garcia.

Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound is offering a $1,000 reward for any information that leads to Buchanan's arrest.  If you can tell deputies where to find him, submit an anonymous tip by using the P3 Tips App on your phone or by calling 1-800-222-TIPS(8477). CAPTURED: Double murder suspect seen enjoying drink before shooting — arrested

Merle Charles Buchanan, aka Chucky, 26

FUGITIVE CAPTURED March 2, 2018 —
Double murder suspect, Merle Buchanan, was arrested and booked into the King County Jail on Friday.

He’s being held without bail.

—-‘Pablo’ Tapia and Jose Garcia

WHITE CENTER, Wash. —  Surveillance video shows 26-year-old double-murder suspect Merle ‘Chucky’ Buchanan inside the Taradise Café in White Center having a drink, talking on his cellphone and even smiling at someone moments before King County sheriff’s detectives say he killed Jose Garcia and Paul Tapia in the parking lot on January 6.

Detectives don’t have a motive.

“That’s the biggest question. Why? Why is he dead? My son got shot in the head, through his right eye,” said Vickie Glatt.

Tapia, who everyone called ‘Pablo’, was her oldest.

"This is the worst thing that's ever happened to me in my life, to bury my child,” said Glatt.

Garcia died at the scene. Tapia was rushed to Harborview Medical Center.

"The night that we had to take him off life support, I came home. I sat on the bed and I just said I'm gonna lose it Lord. I need some help. I need some help and he did, I swear he just laid his hand on my heart and he comforted me,” said Glatt.

Gone was the son she talked to six or seven times a day. A caring father of two, a hero to his son and daughter.

His mom says Tapia was an avid Broncos fan who loved barbecuing and who always had a kind word for strangers, especially the homeless. "One time I heard him tell this person, I don't have any money but I do have some time to share,” said Glatt.

'Pablo' Tapia's memorial photos

Tapia and Garcia worked at Cascadia Metals. Their families say they were at the Taradise Café for a co-worker’s party.

"I think I am still just in a state of shock of it all,” said Garcia’s daughter, Angela Salazar-Garcia.  He was a father to four with two granddaughters and one on the way. "This guy needs to be put behind bars for the rest of his life,” said Salazar-Garcia.

Deputies say ‘Chucky’ frequents Renton, Seattle and Burien and has been seen riding the bus.

"It would just be nice to know. What happened? Why he did this and if he has any remorse. It would be nice to know if he has any remorse because I feel bad for his people. You know, because in a way they've lost their person, too, because he's off hiding and he's gonna eventually be put in jail,” said Glatt.

‘Chucky’ has been on the run for a month and deputies think his friends or family may be helping him hide.

“I understand somebody loves him and wants to take care of him and help him but he did something bad, you know. He took two lives and you need to pay for that,” said Glatt.

Buchanan is 5-foot9 and 195 pounds.

In addition to the murder warrants, he also has a Felony Domestic Violence No Contact Order Warrant.   He should be considered armed and dangerous.

Chief Dusty Breen. “We now have an individual that failed to follow the court-ordered treatment, became a registered sex offender and has now failed to follow the provisions set forward for his reporting, which causes us great concern.”

WANTED IN SEATTLE —
Watch the video below that shows the deadly crash Kevin Arrington is wanted for.

Seattle Police say Arrington was driving the red PT Cruiser you see, when he ran a red light and smashed into the back of a King County Metro bus. There were two people inside the car with him. One of them died from his injuries.

The crash at E. Denny Way and Broadway Ave. happened almost two years ago and Arrington has been on the run ever since — charged with vehicular homicide.

“The suspect in this case was later given all the breathalyzer tests and everything and found that he was under the influence of meth,” said Ret. Det. Myrle Carner with Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound.

His passenger in the back seat spent nine days in the hospital before dying from a spinal cord injury.

Karl Redmond: Five-time felon accused of shooting neighbor with richochet blast

WANTED IN KING COUNTY —
The Western District of Washington Fugitive Task Force is asking for the public’s help to find Karl Redmond.  Crossing paths with this five-time felon could get you hurt, or killed — just ask Redmond’s neighbor who Federal Way Police say got shot by Redmond’s reckless ricochet blast.

“He said that he was in the apartment walkway, on the stairway, when Karl and his girlfriend walked by,” said Cathy Schrock with Federal Way Police. “The victim reported that he moved out of the way as they walked down, Karl went into the apartment, came back out, he had a gun in his pocket, exchanged some words with the victim and an altercation verbally occurred and then Redmond’s believed to have shot into the side of the building, right next to where this gentleman was standing and the shrapnel, basically, from the building, injured the victim’s legs and feet.”

Redmond has been on the run ever since the early November shooting.

He’s wanted in King County for assault, illegally having a gun and for violating a domestic violence protection order. His rap sheet has prior convictions for all three of those charges, as well as a burglary bust.

Police think he’s hiding in King County and say he has a disturbing history of putting his kids in harm’s way. “His children were in the car. He had just put them in the car minutes before the shooting and in other cases that he had been involved with, with us, his children were also present during assaults and things like that, so he’s not afraid to commit crimes in front of children, or recklessly, so we definitely would like to bring him into custody. We think he’s a danger to any society, whatever city he might be in. If he’s willing to shoot at someone for just maybe not getting out his way as he’s walking up and down a stairwell, then he’s willing to hurt anyone,” said Schrock.

Karl Redmond is 25 years old, 5’11 and weighs 200 pounds. He has tattoos on both forearms.

If you spot him, or know where he’s hiding — stay away — and call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS(8477), or use the P3 Tips App on your smart phone to submit your information.

It’s anonymous — you never have to give your name — and you’ll get a cash reward of up to $1,000 if your tip leads to his arrest.
